Brunei Darussalam is one of the smallest non-island countries on earth., but is has a long history. It is located on the island of Borneo, 443km north of the equator. The size is about 5,765sq km. It is surrounded by three sides by the Malaysian state of Sarawak. To the north lies the South China Sea and Brunei Bay.
Brunei Darussalam is a country noted for social and economic progress. The country boasts a well established state education system, technical colleges and a state university. Healthcare is provided particially free of cost and government runs a housing scheme which aims to provide all citizens with affordable home.
