Tourist Information Centre

Visitors can obtain information about Brunei and related pamphlets, maps and copiesof BIG (Borneo Insider's Guide) magazine free from these three locations;

  • The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) at the arrival hall of Brunei International airport (opening hours; 9am-5pm)
  • Kampung Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery (9am-2pm)
  • TIC at Bangar Town,Temburong (8am-12pm)

Entertainment

Jerudong Park Playground

Jerudong Park is an amusement park in Brunei. Jerudong Park lies along Bandar Seri Begawan's Muara- Tutong Highway, about a 20 minutes drive from the town central.

BOWLING

There is only one bowling centre in Brunei, the 18 lane Utama Bowling on Jalan Tutong in Bandar Seri Begawan. Tel : 673-2-242578  

Transportation

BUSES

There are six bus routes servicing the Bandar Seri Begawan area ; The Central Line, Eastern Line, Western Line and Northern Line. They usually operate from 6.30 am - 6 pm. Bus fares start from B$1. Buses heading to towns like Tutong, Kuala Belait and Seria depart from the bus terminus at the multi- storey carpark on Jalan Cator in Bandar Seri Begawan.


TAXIS

There are no metered taxis in Brunei. You can sometimes get them at hotels, shopping centres and the airport. It is advisable to prearrange your taxi rides by contacting the following numbers;

WATER TAXIS

These are the most common means of transportation at Kampung Ayer. You can hail one from the jetties lining Brunei River. Fares are negotiable but a standard ride usually costs around B$1. Regular boat services to Temburong operate between 7.45 am - 4 pm daily. The round trip fare is $15.

It is not only serves traditional Brunei- Malay specialities but it's also showcases local crafts such as kain tenunan (Brunei brocade), silverware and keris (dagger). Bruneians are very family oriented and they love to gather around an Ambuyat meal (local speciality). Instead of rice and noodles, the staple here is sago paste, which is served with a choice of side dishes. A favourite dipping sauce is the sour and spicy sambal binjai and tempoyak made eith fermented durian and forest fruit. Other dshes included belutak (sundried meat braised with tomato,chili and tamarind), pais ikan (marinated fish wrapped in nipah leaves and grill), beef jerky stir-fried with chillies and onion. To eat ambuyat, you have to use candas (prong-like a chopsticks), scoop up shiny sago paste, twirl it onto the prongs, dip it into some sauce and tuck in.

Hiking

Brunei offers many opportunities to strech your legs and work your muscles. Two of the most popular hiking destinations are Tasek Lama and Bukit Shahbandar.

Sailing

Royal Brunei Yacht Club

The clubhouse is situated on Muara Bay with a view of Sarawak's Crocker Mountain Range. They have a swimming pool and snooker room and also have a sister clubhouse on the banks of Brunei River along Jalan Kota Batu. You can sail down from Serasa, dock at the pontoon and have a game of bridge or a meal at their restaurant.


Other Watersports

The Empire Hotel's Banana Hut is a one-stop shop for watersports lovers. Diving lessons and equipment are available but there's plenty for non-divers too such as snorkeling, parasailing, jetskiing, charter a boat or go-deep sea fishing. You will also have a relaxing day and island hop with a picnic baskets. It is open to walk in visitors as well as guests.

Functions and Conference

International Convention Centre (ICC)

Located just a five-minute drive from Brunei International Airport. It offers a range of exhibition halls able to cater to large scale events. The biggest venue is the Plenary Hall that can seat for 5000 guests in a theatre style arrangement. The main Conference Hall can accomodate 1200 guests while Conference 2 comes with seven country room and a banquet hall. It is equipped with specialised audiovisual equipment, projection screens, conference video camera and fully intergrated interpretation system.

The Bridex Centre

Built on a 26 acre area in the lush Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club. It is located on the scenic seafront site in Jerudong. It features two exhibition halls totaling 10 000sq m of space and an outdoor display area of 5000 sq m. More over, the banquet hall can seat 700 guests for a sit down dinner and 1000 in theatre style seating. There are four multi-purpose rooms, a business centre and a marina.
